Big news around here: Levi is rolling from his back to his right side. :) He's been doing this for a couple days now. Will often be laying there on his side sucking his thumb...
Levi is one active boy (which I've known since long before he was born...). He can REALLY get his bouncy seat going, and when he's just laying on the floor or in bed he just kicks and kicks. Doesn't sit still much when holding him either. Thought maybe I'd get a cuddler this time, but it's not looking that way!

Gotta record a conversation I had with Logan the other night. Last night I had a party at our house, so Monday night Mike was telling Caleb and Logan how they were going to go out and have a guys night while I had my party.
Logan: "We going to a party. You not coming, Mom." (Apparently he had the details mixed up...)
Me: "Where's the party?"
Logan: "Up north."
Me: "Oh really?"
Logan: "No, it's not up north. I joking."
Me: "Okay. Where is it then?"
Logan: "It's in Holland."
I got a good laugh from that one! The boys were very intrigued that I was having a party and friends were coming over. This morning Logan was asking where everybody went and "Where your friends go?" :)

bug
We got to see something really cool yesterday. A big bug (is it a Cicada??) was making it's way out of it's shell on the lid of the sandbox. Mike and Emily got to see it partway through, too. I'm not a bug person, but this was neat to watch and document.

nursery
Last Sunday morning I had to work in the nursery at church. I wasn't sure how it was going to go with Caleb and Logan since the last time I tried to sit in there they ended up having meltdowns. We decided our best shot at success was to have Mike take Levi into church with him so that Caleb and Logan wouldn't feel "threatened" by having him in nursery. Whether that was the reason or not, they did great! They didn't mind when I paid attention to other kids either - there was only the other nursery worker and her daughter, and two other girls and those two were having a bit of a hard time being in nursery so they needed a little extra tlc. I also had to change the girls' diapers, and even though I've changed plenty of girls' diapers in the past, it was still a little funny...I guess changing thousands of boy diapers over the last couple years has me pretty used to boys!
Speaking of which, of course Caleb and Logan are very observant and curious. :) The other day we had to go through a long list of who has a "pee-pee" and who doesn't. I think it was Logan kept throwing different names out there, and I just kept saying "Yup, he's a boy" or "No, she's a girl"... Also, they'll talk about how Levi eats from my belly. :) Yesterday afternoon I was out getting groceries and Mike was going to feed Levi a bottle. But, Logan saw that Mike didn't have a shirt on and asked if he was going to feed him from his belly!
Both Caleb and Logan have been into asking where things came from or who gave them something. They'll ask about pretty much EVERYTHING. "Where that come from?" or "Who gave that a me?" Yesterday I found a book for them at a resale shop and while they were looking at it last night Caleb asked something about when he was born - his question didn't come out real clear, but I knew he was asking if that was a gift he got when he was born (because there have been items like that that we've discussed lately). They are also really into birthdays. Logan keeps saying, "My birthday gonna be later."
Caleb has figured out that he can blame things on his brother. He's not very good at it yet, though! There will be something that I'll see him do, or Logan will be right next to me and I know he didn't do it, yet Caleb will still try to say, "Logan do it!" At least he's not trying to blame Levi yet. :)
Caleb and Logan ask so. many. questions! And it's great! :) Sometimes Logan will get this really serious scowling look on his face and say, "What you talking about?" Or, if they hear part of a conversation Mike and I are having they'll ask, "You talking about....?" Gotta be careful, these guys hear everything and see everything - can't get a whole lot past them anymore!
Mike's packing shed started up this past week. Is it bad that we're already counting down the days?? :) It's not terrible, certainly we have so much to be thankful for, but it's going to be a challenge this year. I LOVE my kids, and I love staying home with them, I wouldn't have it any other way, but they can definitely drain me and Mike's long days at work mean long days for me at work, too. :) There were a few days last week that we barely got to say "hi" to each other. But, it's been a nice weekend together as a family. We didn't have alot going on, and the boys have colds so they couldn't be in church this morning but they weren't terrible, so we still had a nice time hanging out.
Levi is growing up so fast! :) He's already dropped another feeding and is down to eating 5 times a day. I wasn't going to try it for another couple weeks, but it just sorta happened the other day and he still made it through the night fine. He still naps between every feeding. He's been a smiler for a long time now, and I've sorta gotten laugh type noises out of him, but he definitely laughed for Mike this weekend a few times. And, yes, of course when I got the camera out he stopped... He's been sucking his hand/fingers/thumb more often, and won't take a pacifier when I try. Hope this doesn't turn into a major habit...I'd alot rather deal with taking a pacifier away than a thumb... But, it does look pretty cute!

Went into the boys' room this morning to find both of them without a diaper on. Thankfully, Logan hadn't done anything, but I had a little mess to clean up in Caleb's bed (really, it could have been much worse).

doctor
Levi is two months old today! He had his checkup at the doctor this evening and we made it a family affair. Caleb and Logan didn't do too bad (or maybe we just decided they did good enough anyways since Mike and I wanted ice cream afterwards anyhow...). They were pretty curious when the doctor was checking Levi out, and they didn't get into too much trouble when we were talking with him. The nurse weighed them too - Logan is 30 lbs and Caleb is 34 lbs.
Anyways, back to Levi. He's 14 lbs 13 oz, and 25 inches long. Both are 97th percentile (he's on the charts!). His head circumference is 42 cm, which as the doctor said, is only the 90th percentile. :) So, he's a big boy, but everything is pretty proportional! (Caleb and Logan were almost 14 lbs at just over 6 months...) Everything checked out good - he's a happy, healthy, growing boy. He had to get a few shots tonight and didn't do too bad. Cried for a bit, but didn't take too long to calm down.
While we were in there I asked the doctor about a bump on the back of my neck. I've had it for years and years, but it's gradually gotten a little bigger and can be annoying. He said it was no big deal and he had time to cut it out right then. So, we left Mike in the room with all the boys, he took me to another room, numbed me up, snip snip, and it's all gone! He was kinda laughing about leaving Mike in the room with all the boys, I asked if he thought Mike would notice if I ran out for a cup of coffee, but then I said I'd have to sneak back to get the keys and he said I could take his truck. :)

It's a little warm here. Like somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 degrees. I am SO thankful for air conditioning. Yesterday we were at the cottage (no ac) and it was pretty miserable having to feed Levi. At least I could jump in the lake afterwards to cool off! The heat was definitely bearable if you were in the water, I was wishing there was a way for me to feed Levi out there...
The lake has some 4th of July festivities, and Mike had really been hoping to find a turtle to enter in the turtle race, but he didn't see anything at work the day before. It's always a little crazy getting loaded up and out the door, and of course we left later than intended. We're zooming down Chicago Drive when Mike slams on the brakes and is SUPER excited to see a turtle crossing the road. So, Mike threw him in a bag and we stopped over at Schreur's to clean him up (he was STINKY) and get a bucket for him. He was a pretty feisty snapper. But, race time must have been his nap time because apparently he didn't budge an inch (I wasn't able to be at the race to witness it).
We had a fun day with various family that was able to be at the cottage. Logan, of course, jumped right in the water and swam all day. Caleb took awhile to warm up to it, but he eventually got better (and then got worse, and then got better again...). Thanks to the other night's stinging incident he is now afraid of ANY bug or even anything that might look remotely like a bug. It's totally understandable right now, I just hope he gets over it before too long... Levi even went swimming. Just a little crying right at first, but then he seemed to like it!

My boys are definitely all boy. They've been getting into guns (only talking about them and pretending certain things are guns, and I did just get them small water guns) and "shooting" things. When Caleb shoots something he says "Shot!" Here he is trying to shoot down Mike's helicopter.

I'm trying to adjust to the chaos around here. I guess it's not THAT bad, but pretty much from the time I get up until I go to bed at night it's go go go with not much of a break anywhere in there. But, it's good chaos, I'm lovin' life with my boys!
Last Tuesday evening we went to cheer on some family members in the Zeeland Zoom 5k race. Normally Mike and I run in that race, but it just didn't work out this year. Can you believe I wasn't up for running a race 7 weeks after having a baby?! :) Anyways, my dad, my oldest brother, my nephew, my cousin, and other friends all ran. What's nice about a small town race like that is that it was real easy to watch the start, catch the runners partway through, and then make it back for the finish, too. However, when we saw my dad in the middle of the race he did a bunch of high fives but missed Caleb. Caleb was DEVASTATED. He was sobbing inconsolably for a few minutes. I didn't know what the problem was at first, but Mike guessed what happened. When Caleb started to calm down I tried to ask him about it and I said, "Why are you sad? Are you sad because Papa had to keep running?" and he just started back up again. After he had more time to calm down he talked about it pretty nonchalantly, telling my mom that he cried and was sad, etc. While waiting just before the finish line we made sure there was no way my dad could miss Caleb.
Sunday was our 8th anniversary! It's been 8 unbelievable, but wonderful, years. I am so thankful for my husband and I look forward to many, many more years together! On Friday I bought Caleb and Logan a couple new Sunday shirts. When Mike got them dressed Sunday morning Caleb said something right away about Miss Brandi (his Sunday School) teacher liking it. What a cutie! Thankfully we saw her on our way into church first thing, she had the same color shirt on, and said something about how nice they looked! Also, Sunday evening on our way to church Caleb and Logan said they wanted to "sit nice in big church". We were already on our way so I wasn't prepared with things to help keep the occupied, but we decided to just give it a shot and see how long they'd make it. I grabbed a few books from the nursery, had a couple cars in my purse, and they made it about half an hour! They did real well for our first try.
Speaking of church stuff...I think it was Sunday Mike read a little kid's devotional for the boys. It was basically a simple paragraph about Christians going to Heaven with Jesus. At the end Mike asked Logan if he wanted to go with Jesus, and he said "yes". Then Mike asked Caleb and he said "no". I could see he was thinking about this and looked a little scared. We asked why he didn't want to and he said he wanted to stay home! Then he said he didn't like God and Jesus. I guess we have a little work to do in our training...
Yesterday I met up with a friend at a new splash pad in Jenison. We went there with some other friends last week, too. It's pretty nice! Took Caleb and Logan a little bit to warm up to it, but by the time we had to leave they were having fun. :) Both times we had to leave I had some trouble with the boys. Also, last night Mike and I were able to go on a date! We left all three boys at my brother's house (actually my mom had all the kids by herself for just a bit...and she survived!). They love playing with their cousins and get super excited. Last week when they were together at my parents they got HYPER. Right before we came back to pick them up Caleb got stung by a wasp(s) seven times!! Poor guy, he was tough about it though! I guess he cried right away, but was able to tell them where it hurt, and he was done crying and ready to play again when we got there just a few minutes after it happened.

Just a minute of distraction and Caleb got into a blue marker... Thankfully the coloring he did on Heidi's kitchen set wiped off easy. He's still kinda blue today, though!
This morning Caleb and Logan went to a friends house to play for a few hours. Levi and I ran a couple errands and spent a little time at home. It was great! Levi has started "talking" and I LOVE it. I've been anxiously waiting for him to start making more noises, I just love the cooing. He's also super smiley. Is there anything cuter than a baby smile?!?! He randomly rolled over yesterday, too. It was kind of a fluke, which is the way it starts out, I guess - I remember feeling the same way with the boys. I put him on his tummy, kinda propped up on his arms, and he just tipped all the way over onto his back. The way this kid moves when he's on his tummy I wouldn't be surprised if he's an early crawler. Nooooo!!!!! :)
