adventure

The boys are 4 months old today! We have been having so much fun, every day is a new gift.

Last Friday we had a little adventure. The phone rang and my parent's neighbor's name showed up on the caller id - I knew there was only one reason she would be calling me... The cattle were out. My parents were gone visiting my sister and Mike takes care of the farm when they're gone, so we get the call when something like this happens. The cattle had apparently managed to lift a gate off the pins and a whole bunch got out (maybe 20 - 30?). So anyways, I called Mike at work (thankfully he was almost done with what he was doing and could leave almost right away), loaded the boys up in the car, and headed over to the farm. Mike and I, along with another neighbor, managed to get almost all the cattle back in the barn and locked up. There was one that didn't survive the ordeal - I won't go into details as I'm not sure of my audience. :) It couldn't be avoided and was no one's fault, but it's a shame as it was almost fully grown, so it's a pretty big loss.
We're looking forward to some great weather this week! It seems SO much easier to get out with the boys when the weather's decent. I've gone out with them on my own a fair bit now - as long as I'm going somewhere that I can use the stroller or a shopping cart it's totally doable. Of course, I can't put anything else in the shopping cart, and I'm not a fan of walking around with two carts by myself, but it's nice to be able to get out. :)

The boys just keep getting more active - it's fun to watch. They 'talk', smile, kick their legs, grab their feet, eat their hands, roll over, hold onto toys... Kids go through such major development in just the first year, and we're already 1/3 of the way through it!
P.S. I seem to be having some picture issues. There were pics of both boys, but the one of Caleb won't come up now, and it doesn't show when I try to upload it again. Hmmm...maybe it will magically reappear the way it magically disappeared...

buds

Logan smiled at Caleb today and it was sooooo adorable! It was right after a feeding and I was holding both of them, they were looking at each other then Logan just flashed a big smile.

sunny

It's a beautiful, sunny day here in Michigan! This weather isn't going to last much longer, but at least it gives us hope that winter is pretty much over. Actually, as much as I love the spring and summer weather, this is the first time I have mixed feelings about it. Mike is already working a little bit longer days. Right now he is able to help with the boys' first and last feedings of the day. It won't be long and he'll be going in too early to help with the first feeding, and later in the summer there'll probably even be days that he misses the last feeding. Yes, I can do feedings on my own, it's just so much nicer to have an extra set of hands around - especially when that extra set of hands is Mike's. :) I'm very thankful he works close to home so we can visit (we took advantage of that today!).

Caleb continues to roll over quite often. I'm not sure if he's aware yet of what's happening. :) He's still not super vocal, but when he does 'talk' it's SOOOO cute. And he does laugh once in a while, which is super adorable. Of course, it's driving Mike nuts that he can't get Caleb to laugh for him, but he'll talk and laugh for most women that give him attention. Knowing their dad, it doesn't surprise me one bit that both Caleb and Logan are good shmoozers with the ladies. Caleb loves to chew on his fingers. I hope this doesn't mean he's got teeth on the way already, I'm not ready for that! For those of you that have seen him, you know he has my long, skinny fingers - it's kind of funny, sometimes when he's chewing his fingers he ends up gagging himself a little because his fingers go in so far!

Logan has rolled over once more, but that's it. We'll keep practicing! He continues to be very vocal, he has such a sweet voice!! Just makes me melt when he looks up at me, eyes twinkling, batting those long eyelashes, cracks a big grin and coos. He does a little bit of hand chewing as well. The boys keep getting more active and alert, it's so much fun!

I have been feeling so thankful for the good health the Lord has given each of us. I know of a set of triplets that were born a couple months before Logan and Caleb, and I think they are doing well now, but really had a rough start. What a blessing that our boys were born healthy and could go home right away! And yesterday a man I know died of a heart attack. He was 32 years old and left behind a wife, 3 kids, parents, brothers... At least his family can be assured of where he is spending eternity. An event like that really makes me stop and think about my priorities, and be thankful for the moments I have with loved ones.

caught on tape

Caleb rolled over several times yesterday! I caught a decent one on the camera. Now to get Logan to do it more and get a clip of it...

roll #2

Logan rolled over today, too! It was the same situation as Caleb - I had him on his tummy for some pics and he just kinda lost his balance and rolled right on over. So fun!

roll

Caleb rolled over yesterday! Okay, it was pretty much on accident, I don't think he can actually roll over yet. :) I was taking some pics and had him on his tummy propped up on his arms, he's not very good at that yet and was a little unstable so he just lost his balance and rolled all the way over. It was pretty cool though. :)

again

I totally got Caleb laughing today! He's been pretty quiet since I posted a month ago that he laughed, but I definitely got a few chuckles today. Of course it bothered Mike that he wasn't home for it. :) Caleb had a big, silly grin on his face that made me laugh, and that made him laugh, which made me laugh more, and so on...
