This time a good one. A great one! My dear, sweet husband threw me a surprise birthday party on Saturday. I thought we were going out for a date night, but he had a party planned instead! And, I am really impressed at how he pulled it off. I only thought it was a little odd that we were dropping the kids off at my parent's for the evening (we wouldn't normally do that for a date night), but other than that he did nothing suspicious whatsoever. I love hearing about the details afterwards - all the phone calls and coordinating that he managed to keep quiet about. And, don't worry, I didn't lose my date night, we're still going out on my birthday, Friday. :)
So, every day I kept thinking the boys were getting better from their bug, But then, every day something would happen. Be forewarned, this might get gross for a minute... On Friday Caleb had terrible diarrhea. It was straight out of the diaper, down the leg, super smelly diarrhea. I almost lost it. But then I would have had to clean that up, too. I did three full clothing changes on him within one hour. I almost ran out of clean clothes! He did not have much of an appetite. All this time Logan's acting fine. They seemed to improve throughout the day, but when I got them up Saturday morning I knew Caleb was not right. Poor thing was pale and just wanted to sit by me. He threw up even though he didn't really having anything to throw up... Then, Logan threw up at breakfast. What in the world?? Ugh. And of course Mike had to work Saturday morning. I'm worried our date night is in jeopardy, and of course now I know he was worried about the party! They improved alot throughout the day, Caleb started eating more than he had all week and Logan was acting fine. So, Saturday evening everything went off without a hitch. They probably weren't really contagious anymore, but we kept them somewhat separated from the other kids just in case. Sunday was incident free and the boys were back to full health.
We have had some great weather and we are just loving playing outside. The boys have a little playhouse that keeps them busy for a bit, and they ride their tractors some. They enjoy it if the dogs are out, but I don't have them out all the time with us, it's just too much. Sadie is very needy for attention, and she's not always aware of herself when she turns around, so she can easily knock a little boy over. Today we made our first ever trip to the park, and they had more outside playtime after lunch. Now that we're playing outside I can definitely see that we'll be going through clothes faster, especially their jeans! And once it's hot enough for shorts we're going to be dealing with some scraped knees for sure.
By the way, after the cart incident at the store last week, this week I had to run to Wal-Mart and so I put them in a stroller (actually two separate ones that hook together). Worked better as far as safety is concerned, but you can't get much that way. Actually, I was unable to get the gallon of 2% I needed because there was no way I was going to be able to carry it and steer the stroller. So now I've been using the boys' whole milk. Yum.
Many of our stores have carts with cars/trucks/extra benches attached. Do any of yours have those?
ReplyDeleteWal-Mart - no. Target - yes, but they're terrible. Meijer - yes, and I haven't used them, but I think they look better than Target's.
