ketchup

I'm trying to remember all the things I've forgotten to write about...  I'll think of things throughout the day, but when I actually get a chance to sit down at the computer I forget.  So, let's see...

A couple weeks ago we went to a Whitecaps baseball game with Mike's brother and sister-in-law.  We had great seats, and really the nicest day weather-wise compared to the surrounding days.  Being so early in the season it wasn't crowded at all, and we were in a good spot to ALMOST catch foul balls.  Which just meant that I had to actually pay attention to the game so that I didn't get nailed with a ball...  :)

A few days later on my birthday I got the date night that I had been counting on the week before when I was surprised with a party.  :)  It was kind of funny though, dinner went a little faster than expected, and then we had to try to kill some time so we didn't get home too early - what would the babysitter think if we weren't even gone two hours and it wasn't even the boys' bedtime yet??  It was not a nice night out, otherwise we would have enjoyed taking a walk or something.  We drove out to the lake, sat in the car for awhile (wish we had our books to read with us!) and then went home.  Still a little early, but at least slightly more respectable.  :)

The next day I got to see my sister and my niece for just a bit!  My niece is on her church's quiz team, which just happens to compete against our church (and I'm not sure how many others), and there was a tournament at our church that day.  My sister and niece travelled out with their church (thankfully they have a nice coach bus) the day before and headed back partway later that day.  Anyways, it was really neat to see my niece quiz.  These kids memorize a TON of scripture and can answer all sorts of questions.  It's very impressive!

This past Saturday I gave the boys their first haircuts!  I've done scissor trimming before, but this was the first time with the clippers.  Caleb was first and he was right at home in the barber chair.  The kid cracks me up.  I can totally see him at the baber shop catching up on the latest town news.  He pretty much sat still and I was happy with how his hair turned out.  Logan on the other hand kept turning his head and wouldn't hold still.  He cried just a little bit.  His hair isn't perfect, but it could be worse!  And Mike reassured me by saying that the barber tells him the only difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is a couple days.

Sunday we had a wonderful Easter service at church.  Between the young people and adults, vocalists and instrumentalists, we are blessed to have so many talented musicians.  We had a nice dinner with Mike's family and enjoyed the time together.  We stayed well into what should have been the boys' naptime, then they did not sleep well once we got home.  And after the evening church service we ended up going over to our friends' house, so the boys stayed up kinda late.  I think they had so much fun playing that they were too busy to get cranky, but they did start to meltdown by the end.  And they did sleep in this morning.  Nice!

Caleb has a few molars coming in.  He's really gotten into climbing lately.  Great.  He's very good about picking up the toys he throws out of the playpen.  :)  I think it's so neat that they can follow directions now - not just to boss them around, but it's fascinating to know that their brains are actually processing what I'm saying and that they can follow my instructions.  Caleb is definitely the leader at this point.  It will be interesting to see if it always stays that way.  He started saying "doggie" a week or so ago.  I think he's also saying "down" (he leaves off the 'n').  He says it when I say we're going down the stairs.  Which is another thing they've learned recently - we finally put a little more effort into teaching them to go down the stairs.  For the most part they do very well.  They are not good enough to be trusted unsupervised, though.

Recently, Logan got his wearable blanket thing off during naptime.  I REALLY hope he doesn't figure out how to get everything else off, too.  I was a little surprised that he did it first, because I've seen evidence that Caleb has been working on his zippers, but hasn't gotten anything completely off.  Logan also says "down" (leaving off the 'n').  And, he and Caleb both shake their head 'no' to pretty much anything you ask them.  We have had one balloon from my birthday party that's hung on a long time, and Logan has had so much fun with it.  "Ball, ball, ball" is all we've heard for a couple weeks now.  :)

Can't remember what other tidbits I was going to share, but this is quite a bit!
