The race was great. Beautiful night, not too hot. Mike was gracious enough to run slow with me. I'm certainly not glad he was in such rough shape after the Riverbank Run, but it did end up working for my advantage - he hasn't run at all since then. If he's at his full running capacity we are completely incompatible running partners. And, he still could have done much better than me last night, but he decided awhile ago that he was just going to stick with me. I am very pleased with how I did. Nothing stellar, but for me personally it was good. I've been running for about 6 weeks and have been very frustrated with my training. But, last night I managed to run the whole thing without stopping (I really didn't think I was going to be able to do that), and it wasn't a totally awful time (I actually did better than my time at the Riverbank Run last year, and only a little worse than my Zoom time last year).
We did it!
Steenwyk Runners
This morning we got to spend quite a bit of time at work with Mike. First he was just working on leveling the driveway so the boys got some tractor riding time in. Then we went out to a field so he could hook up some irrigation. That gave the boys a good opportunity to play in the dirt. When it was time to go home we got them decent enough to ride in the van, then after we got home I just stripped them down, turned on the hydrant, and let them play. They're pretty happy to just stand there and play in the water for awhile.
"Here, let me help."
Checking over the fields.
"There's a problem in the pipe down the row, Dad!"
