On Thursday after Mike got home from work (a little early) we drove to Frankenmuth to go to Zehnder's Splash Village. The boys were SOOOOO excited - we've been talking about it for weeks, and there have been many times where Caleb says, "Let's talk about the water park!", wanting to discuss the plans and what we would to there. :) So, even though it's not that bad of a drive to get there (just over two hours), it seemed like an eternity to the boys. There was lots of, "Are we there yet?", "When are we going to get there?", "This is taking so long!", etc.
Thankfully, when we got there it didn't take long to check in and get changed into swimsuits so we could head right down to the water park and get playing. Levi was not a fan at first, and Caleb and Logan's preferences haven't changed much - Caleb wants to do the big, fast slides, Logan wants to do smaller slides, play in the water, and go in the hot tub. Levi did warm up to it after awhile, and started going down some little slides. Bedtime in the hotel room was of course interesting. First it was Caleb and Logan in one bed, Levi on the floor in his sleeping bag, and Mike and I in the other bed. Boys took quite a while to settle down. Sometime around midnight or so Levi woke up crying a little about something and when I realized he wasn't going to go down again easy, I just put him in bed with us. I noticed that Caleb was RIGHT on the edge of their bed, so I tried to shove him in a little, but it wasn't too long later that he fell out of the bed. He hit the little table pretty hard and landed upside down, but there were no injuries and the next morning he didn't even remember it happening!
As soon as the water park opened we were ready to play again, and had a fun-filled day with slides, the lazy river, hot tub, lily pads, etc! The water park has a whole new area that was under construction last year when we were there, and it's really nice. We had a lot of fun in the lazy river on that side, which really isn't 'lazy' as it has a very strong current, there's a new hot tub that Logan and I enjoyed a few times, a kid's play area that had a little slide Levi liked, and there's two new big slides, one of which Mike and I were able to test out. We both did the slide twice, and not back-to-back, it is just so intense we could only handle so much of it! Basically, at the top the slide is almost vertical. You step into the tube onto a little platform, the platform drops away, and you fall, and fall...I'm not sure how far the drop is, maybe 30-40 feet? Then you curve around and when you come in at the bottom you're still going pretty fast plowing into the water. My heart was pounding and I think I was in shock that I actually did it!
Caleb got into doing the bigger tube rides by himself, Logan tried swimming a little without his life jacket, and Levi started doing the bigger tube rides along with Mike or I. There's another medium sized slide that he got brave enough to do by himself, too! Still in the lazy river and such Levi preferred to sit on my lap in a tube, or hang on around my neck for dear life - so he's more like Caleb in that he really likes the slides, and not the swimming as much. :) One of the times in the new hot tub Logan made a friend. A girl about his age started talking to us about how it was a surprise for them to come to the water park, after she heard me and him talking about how we were finally there and having fun, etc.. After she stepped away Logan said to me, "I'm going to ask her to be my friend." I said it was okay, he went over to her and asked, she said 'yes', and that was that! :)
It was a great getaway, and we can't wait to go back next year!
