fall

Of course, the week of my grandpa's funeral was busy busy with family stuff!  It is so nice to know where my grandpa is spending eternity, so we could celebrate the life he had and enjoy being together as a family.  Last week (the week after), I was hearing alot of "bye-bye, Shell" "bye-bye, Mike" and "bye-bye, Heidi" from the boys.  :)

Last week I had a senior photo session.  I always get nervous about whether I'm going to do a good job or not, and I get nervous about what the person is going to be like and how difficult they're going to make things for me - you just never know what kind of personality you're going to end up with, and I've had some real toughies.  :)  This kid was great!  I told Mike when I got home that even though I only got a 1 1/2 hour impression of this guy, I wouldn't mind if our boys were like that when they're seniors in high school.  :)

Saturday we had a big party here!  It was a little crazy getting everything ready, but it's good to have a reason to get things in decent shape around the house.  :)  I felt like things were fairly under control until Logan decided not to nap that afternoon and when I did get him up he was sobbing and would not let me set him down.  Really?!  Of all days!  Anyways, we had our young married's class from church over for Soup & Pie night, and a hayride and bonfire.  The weather was gorgeous, the food was great (I LOVE Soup & Pie night!), and the company was fun.  Overall it went great and I'm glad we did it, but I must say, it is very difficult to host a party with two 2-year-olds.  One of the biggest challenges for us was the bonfire - and I knew it would be, that's why I considered not having one at all, but how can you have a fall party out in the country without a bonfire??

Yesterday we were busy with all sorts of farming!  In the morning we went to 'help' Mike with onions - they're getting the last of the onions out of the field, and Mike was handling things on the onion pad all by himself (so I wish I could have actually helped...).  The boys did actually pick up some stray onions and put them in cribs, so they helped a little bit.  :)  After that we went over to the other packing shed to unload/load the V8 truck.  Mike and Caleb with him, and his boss had Logan with him, so I guess I could have just left for a little bit since the boys were taken care of.  :)

Then, after supper we headed out to check on the soybean harvest on my dad's farm.  Mike had gone there straight from work to help out.  And in the mean time I kept checking the Tiger's score.  No, we're not big sports people over here, but we'll pay attention when the Tiger's make it this far.  :)

Today was another day spent mostly outside.  Not much of this weather left, gotta soak it up!  It's going to be a long, cold, dark winter...  Anyways, the boys and I headed out to the park this morning.  On our way we ran into my dad at the Farmer's Co-op waiting in line to unload his soybeans so we visiting with him a bit.  Then we had some fun at the park playing in the sandbox, and running around the play area.  It was nice except the run-in I had with a lady there with her grandson.  :)  Not really a run-in, I guess, she was just bothering me with some of the things she was saying and how she was acting, and then she made a comment that she thought twins would be easier because they must play together.  And she was serious.  Really?!  Use some common sense.  First of all, they're two, the whole "play together" thing doesn't really factor in yet - maybe someday.  And, come on, it's not like they play 24 hours a day - there's still diaper changes and feedings and baths, etc., etc., etc.  I feel blessed to have twins, they are tons of fun, but they are also lots of work.

After leaving the park we came home and had a picnic lunch out in the yard.  The boys did pretty good with it - it's not like they sit and eat their lunch, but they did get food in them.  :)  And then they rode their bikes around for awhile.  And, of course, after supper we went to ride the combine with Mike again.

Tomorrow is supposed to be our last nice day for awhile, I'm sure it will be busy again!
