Until Friday it had been a little while since we've had a bloody injury around here - pretty amazing with the way the boys play! Funny, at some point in the morning, for just a few minutes, it was actually peaceful here - Levi was napping, Caleb was playing trains nicely on his own, and Logan sat on the couch to look at books. I even had a few seconds to sit on the other couch and enjoy it. Didn't take long for that to end! Caleb and Logan started bickering again, the dryer started buzzing at me, and Levi started waking up way too early from his nap. Once I got Levi up I brought him downstairs to change him, and something happened with Caleb and Logan at the top of the stairs. I THINK it was an accident, but can't be 100% sure. Caleb hit Logan in the back of the head with a big, heavy, plastic train. I could tell from the scream right away that he was hurt for real, he came down by where I was changing Levi and I didn't notice anything right away, but then all of the sudden Logan was screaming, "There's blood coming out!" And, oh yes, there was. Cuts on the head like that bleed ALOT! Poor Levi got set aside half dressed (thankfully I at least had the diaper fastened otherwise I would have had more of a mess to clean up...). First I sent Caleb to the couch, but then before I got Logan cleaned all the way up I had him come look - accident or not I figured it was good for him to realize what he did! Took a bit to get things cleaned up enough to see how bad it was, but then decided we wouldn't need to take him in. Thankfully, Mike only had to work half a day on Friday and was already on his way home, so he was able to help get things back under control. :)
We've already got a backseat driver on our hands. Oh joy. Caleb called Mike out on a rolling stop the other night. I don't remember exactly how he said it, but it was something to the effect of, "Hey, what's that red sign for?" Me: "It's a stop sign." Caleb: "But how come Daddy didn't stop?" Ha! And then last night he was getting on me for not slowing down for a yellow light (it turned yellow right before we went through, no time to stop).
These guy's memory is something else! I guess a couple weeks ago the boys were out in the garage with Mike when he was putting gas in the Massey and he mentioned needing a new funnel - not a big deal, there was no major discussion about it. The other day we were at Meijer's and Mike and the boys walked past the automotive aisle (Levi and I were getting a few groceries). Caleb told Mike there was something he needed to show him, took Mike back a couple aisles, pointed at the funnels and said, "You need a new "bucket"!"
Yesterday was Mike's first official Sunday as "Deacon in Charge". He did great (as far as I can tell)! I got everyone loaded up and to church on time, and managed to keep Caleb and Logan under control during both services - actually, they did great yesterday! Only a few minor issues.
