some people

Friday night was grocery night, and as usual, we attracted some attention.  Often now we just eat supper at Subway in Wal-Mart (the boys eat first at home) - Caleb and Logan can hang out in the grocery cart while we shove in our sandwiches (I say shove because it's not like they have a ton of patience for us to have a leisurely meal).  Anyways, while in line at Subway a gentleman and his wife noticed the boys and commented.  A few minutes later we're sitting down about to start eating and the guy comes up to us and says, "Hey, mom, just wondering since you're into that sort of thing if you've heard anything in the news lately about that lady who had eight babies, thought you'd know since you're into that sort of thing."  I politely answered that I hadn't, and waited while he took too long to leave us alone.  Really?!  What was that??

Saturday morning we went tubing with the boys.  For those of you in the area, you know that it was very cold here and snowing like crazy!  We spent a long time getting bundled up, and not very long tubing, but it was worth it.  :)  It was with our class from church, and it was in one of the couple's aunt and uncle's backyard (Mom and Dad, it's the Timmer's).  Each of the boys went down once with Mike from halfway up the hill, then the four of us went down together from the top.  Not sure if the boys liked it or not - at least they didn't cry about it.  I guess when Mike went down with Logan he got some snow in the face and was making a noise he'd never made before.  Thankfully they had a barn that we could go warm up in!

I think this is Mike and Caleb going down the hill.

Sunday morning we drove up to Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City.  It was so much fun!!  We got up there and had time to play for awhile before the boys needed a nap.  I so enjoy watching them have fun.  They weren't scared at all about going in the water - took just a little bit for them to loosen up, but they never cried about it.  There is a kiddie pool area that is great for them to sit and splash in, walk around, or just float.  We spent quite a bit of time floating in the lazy river - they enjoyed just sitting in the tube with us or 'swimming' along in their lifejackets.  Mike and I did manage to each go down a waterslide once - it worked best when we were on the lazy river and the other person could just have both boys in their tube, otherwise it does get a little challening to juggle both boys in there.  There's a whole big fort area that Caleb especially got into exploring towards the end of our time yesterday - he was ready to walk off and just do his own thing.  They also really enjoyed the area with fountains squirting out of the floor - they could just walk around, stand on the fountains, try to catch the water, and they don't mind at all getting splashed in the face.

Sunday evening after they napped (and we sat in our room in the dark) there wasn't really enough time to go back down to the waterpark, so after supper we just explored around the hotel.  There's so many new sights and sounds in a place like that.  Caleb liked the big stuffed bears especially.  We walked around the arcade with them for a bit - talk about overstimulation!  All those flashing lights and noises, that's gotta be alot for a fourteen-month-old.  We did take them to pajama storytime before bed, but I don't think they got a whole lot out of that.

Yesterday we stayed until about 2pm or so - the boys were definitely tired out from all the playing.  We had alot of fun and I'm so glad we were able to go.  I know it's not something they'll remember, but Mike and I had fun, and we like being able to expose them to different experiences (and, of course, we want them to stay comfortable with being in the water).  As exhausting as it is to have two toddlers, it is also doubly fun to watch them have fun seeing and doing new things.
