windy

We had a great weekend in Chicago for Mike's stepbrother's wedding.  My parents came along to watch the boys - we were able to get adjoining rooms at the hotel and that worked out GREAT.  We left home early afternoon New Years Eve.  It rained quite a bit, but the trip went well.  The boys either slept or played nicely, thankfully it's not that long of a drive!  That night was the rehearsal dinner at a great italian restaurant in Oak Brook (back in the day I made a few trips there when I worked at Crowe).  We had a fun evening hanging out with Mike's family, some of whom we don't get to see very often because they live out of town.

Saturday morning Mike, my dad, and I took the boys swimming.  Of course, they loved it!  Took them just a bit to get used to it (it's a little different than being in the bathtub...), but after awhile they were just splashing like crazy.  They didn't nap great that afternoon, which made me a little frazzled trying to get ready for the wedding, but my mom and dad didn't mind since that meant they'd go to sleep easy for them that night.  :)

The reception was just gorgeous - definitely one of the nicest I've been to.  At a beautiful country club with wonderful food.  We really had a nice time with Mike's family (which is really more important than how nice everything is...ahem...this is just for the benefit of someone I know is reading this....)  When Mike and I started dating, Matt (the one who got married) was already a senior in high school, but it's still hard for me to believe he's old enough to be married.  :)

Sunday morning was a brunch at the hotel with the wedding guests, and then we were on our way back home!  It was much nicer driving weather this time.

The boys really did well with the whole weekend.  They slept great at night, their naps were just a little off.  The time change actually worked well for us - we kept them on EST and so we were able to be done feeding them by the time we had to be doing something else.  It takes some serious organizing to pull off a trip with two one-year-olds, but it went well.
